Substitute disease with similar symptoms as an ovarian cyst?

I'm writing this book, and I wanted to integrate this trouble I had in the hospital, but what I had was an ovarian cyst, and I think that that probably isn't the best disease to appeal to young audiences, and I need something more well known or less embarrasing with similar symptoms.

Substitute disease with similar symptoms as an ovarian cyst?
Appendicitis

kidney stone

bladder infection

gall stones

ulcer

Do you think Dan Radcliffe's nude stage performance is going to affect his career or the Harry Potter movies

From Feb - June, Daniel Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter) is performing in the play "Equus" in a London theater. The play actually comes with warnings of emotional %26amp; psycological drama containing depictions of violence and senes of nudity - thus not suitable for young audiences. Dan has received favorable reviews in the press. When interviewed regarding the full nudity, the 17yr old basically stated that it wasn't a big deal.

Dan has signed to do two more Harry Potter movies. How do you think the press of the London play will affect young Harry Potter fans?

Do you think Dan Radcliffe's nude stage performance is going to affect his career or the Harry Potter movies
I don't think it'll affect the Harry Potter movies at all. His nudity was something artistic, not like porn. Gary Oldman did a nude scene prior to Harry Potter, so it's not a big deal. Dan's trying not to get typecasted. He wants to show that he can take on a diverse set of roles. He's thinking about his future. He wants to do acting work after the series are done, and this was an opportunity for him to show he can do things besides Harry Potter. The play has gotten excellent reviews, so maybe it'll actually increase Harry Potter audiences!
Reply:maybe-negatively and positively!

He's a queer boy-to expose his body at 17.

i'm sure his parents don't like it coz he seems.....as if desperate for attention.
Reply:Being that the play is for adults and not the younger audience many of the younger Harry Potter fans probably will not even know he stared in a play. This is the first that I have heard of this and I help out with a youth reading group that is obsessed with Harry Potter. Their sheer amount of information that they know about the books, actors, movies is astonishing sometimes. Personally I agree with Daniel, in this day and age it isn't a big deal.
Reply:He was right; it's NOT a big deal, and it's only the people who assume that his entire LIFE revolves around Harry Potter who are making it a big deal.

Nudity is something that actors deal with, if and when it's necessary for a part they're playing. The play "Equus" really cannot be performed effectively unless the character of Alan Strang is buck naked in the climactic scene.

Radcliffe was very lucky to get the role of Harry Potter, and he'd be the first one to say so. But, I'd bet my bottom dollar that there is at least a part of him that can't WAIT for that series to be over, so that he can move on to other acting challenges.
Reply:well in my opinion you know there are all types of people out there who sterotype and they will judge you to the fullest, but i think he has a 50 50 % chance of his career going up or down but i know with all his fans and love and support, thats not likely to happen
Reply:No, i don't think so. After all, it wouldn't be the same if Dan wasn't playing harry potter.
Reply:People think of Daniel only as Harry Potter, since that was the first major thing that he was in. If you think of Daniel as a regular actor, playing many different roles everywhere, then it won't affect you. But people who say things like "he's only Harry and he shouldn't do any other role" will probably be affected by it more. For me, I think that Daniel would be great as anyone. Clothed or not.

Why is violence in all its forms widely acceptable on TV while sex is always censored?

When I was a child my mom changed channels whenever there was a sex scene or even when a couple was kissing. Even more, war and violent movies are customarily rated "for all audiences" whiles movies with a few sex scenes are prohibited for certain young audiences.

Why is violence in all its forms widely acceptable on TV while sex is always censored?
i think it's probably because sex is far more of a 'grey area' in a child's education.

whilst you can explain to a child that walking around hitting other people is generally considered inappropriate behaviour, it is far more difficult to explain the moral issues surrounding sex.

sex is not always right, and sex is not always wrong; it is neither good nor bad. sex can be fun, and sex can also be very unpleasant.

i suppose you could argue that the same can be said for violence, but whilst most youngsters can grasp the concepts of pain, anger and empathy from a very young age, i'm not entirely sure that the same can be said for sexual arousal and the circumstances under which it should be acted upon.

i think that censorship can sometimes go a little bit overboard, and that in an ideal world it would be possible to treat treat every child individually, but as we're restricted to very general solutions, i can kind of see where the censors are coming from.
Reply:becuae that the bad thing for the small children and you get all bad habits after seeing all that so do not trying to be a bad person and please be a good person and act like a big man follow the rules and regulation of mom and dad so that why they know that my son is now behaving good they want to see you like a good gentle man
Reply:When you watch a movie you'll find that the things which are typically censored are the things which are usually carried out in the private domain. For example, the news would be much more likely to broadcast a prolonged story about the war in Iraq then a celebrity bedroom scene.

People tend to think in the same domain. Death is not a private affair. Sex usually is - unless you're an exhibitionist or like the idea of sexual activities in the public realm. We see crime and violence splashed all over the TV constantly - murder and war. We'll even hear about sexual abuse, but we will never be informed about the intimate details of someone's consensual love affair.

Hope that answers your question.
Reply:good question...
Reply:The ratings are based on the arbitrary decisions composed of the letters people write to complain about things. I guess people have been complaining about sex more than violence lately. I don't know what you are watching, but my TV has extremely graphic and lewd sex on it lately!!
Reply:Puritanical religious attitudes...
Reply:Imagine you are a parent and are forced to explain to a child

1. A graphic sex scene.

OR

2. A graphic violence scene.

Most parents would choose the scene of violence. It is easier and less uncomfortable for people to watch.
Reply:It depend son the age of a person thats why. you dont want a 5 year old watch ppl getting it on. Its the things about society. Everything is relative. It depends on the type of society one lives in. Sex is one of those grey areas. Censorship is a touchy topic one has to do such things to please the general public and not just one persons needs. You will grown to accept the messed up world we live in.
Reply:glad u axed mate!

well i think this coms from batpurp culture, u c, in batpurp culture i can not have a sex of any kind ?! ! yet vilints is fiane!!!!?
Reply:People who don't get any and think sex is disgusting and evil write in to Points Of View and complain to get sex banned so that they don't have to be reminded of the fun they are missing out on.

All that pent up lust out there is not good for Britain.
Reply:That's society for you.
Reply:who knows, I think sex is actually probably better to be uncesored than violence. as you've heard from hippies, make love not war
Reply:because the government wants us to be desensitized about war and doesn't want us to reproduce. all they're interested in is making killing machines, not baby-making machines.
Reply:damn good question, the answer. iT'S ALL a RecrUting TaCtic for the MiLLitaRy!

IDK, it kina sucks though.
Reply:It depends on what you watch. On some basis they're on the same level, but violence can disturb a young audience just as easily. At school you see a fight just as often as a pregnant student. I think they both should b sen sored so maybe the younger generations wont know so much so early
Reply:Because people are mentally ill.

Should television, DVDs and other video media be targeted toward children under the age of two?

As technology increases and cable channels multiply and diversify, media companies create television channels for every sub group of the population. While on the one hand this may be strategic marketing, one particular target audience has caused recent controversy: babies. Not only are some programs now directed towards babies, but also an entire network has recently been founded to cater to these young viewers. Baby First TV is the first twenty-four hour station devoted to entertaining people under the age of two. Baby Einstein has introduced an entire series of DVD’s aimed at very young audiences. Even Sesame Street has created some material for babies under their series “Sesame Beginnings.” Yet what is the overall effect of these specialized programs? Is aiming television at children under two a mistake?

Should television, DVDs and other video media be targeted toward children under the age of two?
no because theyre babies and need maternal and paternal interaction- not teletubbies or dora

Should I dump my wii and ps3 instead and when i get the ps3 it will better than the wi?

ps3 and 360 rules man you can't go wrong with that.wii are made for kids and girls not man like us we want ps3 and 360 cause it was made for older audiences not young audiences like kids for instant example.when i heard and saw about the wii i thought hey this console was made for younger children and not older children.wii is for kids the ps3 and 360 is for adults and teenagers not kids. i think children should not get the 360 or the ps3 its to young for them they should stick with the wii it doesn't have mature games for them.i'm 16 years old and i have a real job at Fellini's and i should trade in my wii cause i'm not a little kid anymore should get the ps3 instead it was made for me aswell as the 360.

Should I dump my wii and ps3 instead and when i get the ps3 it will better than the wi?
this is a hard one.....they both seem to equal each others

score(my score) 4/6 Wii 4/6 P$3 so I dont give a care for

the two (XBOX 360 FOREVER!!!!!!!!)
Reply:lol ur joking right??? ive got a 360 but still find the wii tons of fun (and as the post states below there are adult games for the wii)
Reply:you know... youre right... Wii has absolutely no games for older kids at all... Fatal Frame, The Godfather: The Game, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and especially Manhunt 2 were made with little kids in mind

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_Frame

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Godfath...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lara_Croft_...

when you get older, youll realize that a Wii party with alcohol is a great time, so until then... good luck with puberty
Reply:the Wii is awesome. so is the ps3. the 360 is terrible
Reply:Just my opinion , but I would keep the Wii , becasue that is a very awsom game , and you cna actually use your hands. I have a PS2 , and I saw a PS3 and Gamestop , but it semed almost the same , so I would keep the Wii.

Which Korean or Taiwanese drama would you recommend to older audience (35+)?

Most of the Korean and Taiwanese drama feature young actors and are geared towards younger audience. Typically 18 to 35 years old. They typically deal with pre marital romance or high school issues. I know that many of these would also appeal to older audience, which are 35 years and older.

However, thinking subjectively, dramas that appeal to older audience would not appeal to the younger crowd. Such dramas would deal with marital life or complex social situations or even professional life after college.

If you ignore period (historic) drama, which modern drama, in your opinion, would appeal to older audience?

Which Korean or Taiwanese drama would you recommend to older audience (35+)?
7 princesses and yellow handkerchief. 7 princesses is about a family with 4 daughters and their lives and it's really good cuz it portray family relations. another show i really like would be yellow handkerchief which shows how a single mother raise her child. it's really a change from all the typical storylines.

Reply:Dude i LOVE drake and josh! I wish it hadn't been cancelled, but hey, tv doesn't care about what we want. I'm 15 but sometimes i act like i'm 5 and sometimes i act like i'm in my 20's.

You're as old as you feel. And if you feel like watching drake and josh, watch drake and josh. Because that show is funny as hell!

Just not the teletubbies. I turned that on for 10 seconds the other day and felt like a stoner.
Reply:Watch whatever you want. TV is to enjoy and there are no age limits for shows. If it makes you happy, watch it!
Reply:i really think its funny so who cares how old you are as long as you have a good sense of humor!

Who would you like to see as the new "Young Gun"?

Jimmie Johnson will not be a part of the Gillette Young Guns this year. He is going a different direction with his image and marketing, trying to capitalize on winning back to back championships and reach a larger audience outside of racing. They have said there will be a new Young Gun but have not identified him yet. Who would you like to see as the next member of that group?

Who would you like to see as the new "Young Gun"?
How about Kyle Rowdy Busch, or Denny Hamlin, they are young guys that would fit it just great..
Reply:J.J. Yeley. He's young and has that "cool" factor.
Reply:I think Martin Truex Jr. would be a nice fit. I think Aric Amirola would also be another good choice as he is just starting his Nextel Cup career, and Jimmie Johnson leaving isnt that big of a shock. Next year will be his 7th year in racing and he has won back to back championships and numerous races, I dont consider him being a young Cup driver anymore, and I dont think many people do. I think he is thought of as one of the veteran drivers, and even though Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, and other drivers have been racing just as long or even longer then him, they dont have the accomplishments he does. Kurt Busch doesnt even deserve to have that championship as that was rightfully Jeff Gordon's and he only lost it due to the Chase format that was created so NASCAR could be more like football and have a playoff system. However, that is a totally different story. I think that the Young Gun should be young, and not have to much racing experience in Cup, and should be an up and coming driver that will eventually have some great stats, and I feel Truex Jr. and Amirola could live up to those standards.
Reply:I would go with David Reutimann as a young gun, because he nice to everyone , has a good attitude . And I know him.
Reply:David Reuitiman or Juan Pablo Montoya. David would make a good one because he is young and you never hear anything bad about him. JPM on the other hand is quite popular and comes with a little controversy because of his driving style. He could be the "bad Boy".
Reply:I am thinking Ricky Carmichael (The Flying Freckle) I know he will be driving for the Busch Series in 2008. He would be a pretty cool Young Gun.

Glad to see your having fun tregosteeve! She is a pain in the gluteus maximus %26amp; it is pretty easy to get her fired up. Just as easy to press the 'report' button, delete her %26amp; make her create anther identity, she is a pro at that. I really liked your remark " no more of an annoyance than a mosquito" that was priceless my friend!
Reply:I think Clint Boyer fits the profile
Reply:The young gun campaign has gotten stale/musty

although I liked Kaseys new haircut!
Reply:Denny Hamlin, or Kyle Busch I don't understand why they aren't young guns anyway, they are younger then all of them! I think they would be great young guns!
Reply:I think Carl Edwards would make a great "Young Gun".

OOPS, My Bad !!! I'll go with Jon Wood or Denny Hamlin.
Reply:How about A.J. Allmendinger? Young. Good looking. California guy. Promising driver.
Reply:I would pick Martin Truex Jr.!!!!!
Reply:TONY STEWART.

There's a part of the contract with Gillette that you have to shave your face regularly, and its high time he did so.
Reply:Marcus Ambrose!
Reply:Kyle Busch or Denny Hamlin
Reply:Wow the Great Tregosteevo has a good question here, well all I have to say is IDK ! But when are you going to send me some deer meat ?????? But Clint Bowyer would be a fine choice !
Reply:Warren Wallace the Go Kart Racer. He's got more personality than most the drivers in Nascar and is 1/3 their ages!!!
Reply:Go Steevo !!! I got'cha back covered dude !!!

How bou't that Joey Lagono fella ???

Also ... If we can trap the troll ? I'll donate ''It'' to Zoo-Atlanta !!

Don't think we have one'nem their yet ?
Reply:Go Steevo!.

I have to say I think Denny Hamlin would make a good Young Gun.

Go Jr.%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
Reply:I would like to see Bowyer as well.

Missed the troll-what happened?
Reply:How about Shrub, hes young and with the Gibbs going to toyota it can't hurt on the publicity front, as long as they can keep him to the script...lol
Reply:Without really knowing who is who anymore, I can't offer an educated answer. However, I do think a potential "Young Gun" should come out of the Nationwide Series.

Here's where you have a problem. The Nationwide Series is now dominated by Cup regulars. There are no standout "Guns" out there coming up through the ranks. Especially through the Cup series.

Cup drivers should only be allowed so many races or a seperate points format in the Nationwide to give the new guys a chance to develop.

Why did Disney start to cater to older audiences instead of staying with a younger one?

My friend needs help with an essay and would like to know this!

Why did Disney start to cater to older audiences instead of staying with a younger one?
To the tune of the Mickey Mouse Show.

M-O-N-E-Y!
Reply:Because kids don't get paychecks to spend.
Reply:thats where the money is
Reply:Actually, I feel like they've catered to the younger ones.

Their movies arent enjoyable to me anymore... they're too simplistic. Whatever happened to movies like HOND (espeically adult-like), BATB, and TLK?

If youre talking abuot their non-ainmated films, theirs only one reason : CASH.
Reply:I would posit that actually the opposite has happened, or at least, their offerings have become more stratified, with the company acquiring major entertainment outlets (like ABC) that are geared at the general populace and adults, while watering down their children's programming to a level fit for toddlers (see: most Disney Channel programming).

They do this so that they can cover more bases, target-audience-wise, and thus make more money, because more kinds of people want to buy their products.

How can I modernize Macbeth for a younger audience?

For my English homework, I have to pitch a Macbeth that will appeal to younger audiences- as in teens- with possibley a new setting? Any ideas would be much appreciated- best response=best answer!

How can I modernize Macbeth for a younger audience?
the witches were like social outcasts, brewing up some evil concoction;

so the modern one can be astute hyperintelligent punkers as the social outcasts brewing up something like crystal meth or computer spam or viruses

Macbeth et al could be done as Rap music stars, rich and famous, (today's equivalent of Royalty then)

Macbeth's father's ghost could be made as e-mail messages that were delayed or sent to wrong e-mail addresses and forwarded as spam and eventually making its way to Macbeth who understood the real meaning of it
Reply:I think you hould make the wording a little easier to understand. Make the king like a typical stereotype stepdad. Have you ever seen the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet? That's a version of Shakepeare that all teenagers can relate to. After the students in my class watched it, many started to get into Shakespeare. Like mtl said, make the witches copntemporary. Make them emo or nerds.
Reply:This is such a great assignment, enjoy it! I had a similar one in 8th grade, and we set it in a big highschool, complete with cliques and prinicpals etc. We had popular bitches, outcasts, jocks, everything. Class president went from Duncan to Macbeth, the witches were goths, and instead of everyone dying, they were expelled from school. In the end, Macbeth and Macduff got in a huge fist fight.

We also changed some names to make them more modern.

Macbeth- Mack

Lady Macbeth- Mack's girlfriend, Girl (as in, "Heyy girl!")

Banquo- Quinn

Donalbain- Donald, Don

Lennox- Lenny

That's just the gist of it. Make it your own, change what you don't like, but most of all, enjoy!
Reply:This sounds morbid, but you might want to set it around sports tryouts (people coveting the spot of captain). This was done with the story of Othello; it was modernized so that it was set around a star basketball player and his girlfriend.

You can still have three witches, but think of something equivalent to wrecking a ship (maybe a car sliding on ice and crashing). If you're setting it in a sports or cheerleading context, you can start with someone telling of "Macbeth's" performance in a game and how he could one day be team captain.
Reply:Murder story right? So bring in CSI.

What do you think about this young actors skills? As an audience member what is your opinion?
I think she has some skillful acting abilities. She appears to be very believable in the role - quite natural. If she continues her acting career, I would expect to see her in a variety of roles for years to come.

Revising a Scene for a younger Audience?

Help Me out with this if you know..it says:

Shakespear wrote to entertain and influence the masses and filled his work with violent, sometimes bloody, conflict. While conflict keeps an audience interested in an imaginative work, violence is usually inappropriate for younger audiences.

The scene in Act III involving Cinna the poet and the street rabble is instructive in its display of the negative effects of mob psychology. Consider how the language and the conflict of the scene could be changed to make it meaningful to ten-year-olds. Rewrite the scene for an audience of fourth-graders.

If you know how to do this...help me out plz

Revising a Scene for a younger Audience?
I've done Shakespeare with 8 to 12 year-old kids numerous times.

Actually, they seemed to LIKE having the original language.

But you can also explain what happens in the scene, what messages have to get out, and have them work at it from there. I seldom had time to have them memorize the adapted language (we would rehearse for four and a half mornings), but as long as they knew what the scene required, they could usually make sense of it.

Polonius (11 year-old boy) and his advice to Laertes:

Always wear clean underwear.
