Help!! thesis statements?

Which sentence would work better as a thesis statement for a 2-5 page college paper?

The sex pistols could not have succeeded without singer and lyricist Johnny Rotten, who provided the stage presence, poetry, and authentic working-class rage that galvanized the group’s young English audiences.

Or

The sex pistols were popular with young English audiences, and the singer and lyricist Johnny Rotten was very important to their success.

Help!! thesis statements?
I would go with the second statement, unless the paper is an opinion based paper. I do not know anything about the group you are speaking of, but I have always been taught in college courses that the thesis statement much be fact-and not opinion. Good luck on your paper-I need to go start mine on the Roman Pantheon!

How do you take this - I take it as a loss of connection to WWII to young people?

Neo-Nazis win seats in German election

Berlin -- The neo-Nazi National Democratic Party won seats in a second German regional parliament yesterday, confirming it is an emerging force in the economically depressed east of the country.

The party, which has a strong anti-immigration stand, took around 7 per cent of the votes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It was a stunning improvement on its performance five years earlier, when it won less than 1 per cent, and it was all the more embarrassing for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is from the state.

The NPD made inroads by capitalizing on discontent in a region where about 18 per cent of the work force is out of work. Its candidates have also reached out to a new audience by ditching skinhead haircuts and steel-capped boots in favour of smart suits.

How do you take this - I take it as a loss of connection to WWII to young people?
I feel the same way that you do about it.
Reply:Some things never change! That is exactly what happened the first time around in Nazi Germany....They had run away inflation and needed a strong nationalist leader, enter Hitler and it was a marriage made in heaven! Scary, if you don't learn from the past, you are condemned to repeat it..
Reply:What country are you in?

If your in the USA, tell me this.

How in the hell did one became Governor of California?
Reply:Alot of the increase in neo nazi activities is because of government failure to put a lid on the immigration of those who cannot or will not assimilate.
Reply:History does tend to repeat itself.

Think of it like a cycle...better yet a pendulum.

When things swing to far in one direction, they don't just swing back to the middle they pass the middle and go too far in the other direction...then they swing back the other direction again.
Reply:If we don't learn from history, don't we tend to repeat it?
Reply:We'll just never learn
Reply:I wonder what they stand for, these days?

It is east Germany that is letting this grow. Remember they didn't have free access to history in their schools until fairly recently. It was behind the iron curtain.
Reply:Well, if you really get into the history, the fuel for the fire the first time through was high unemployment. After WWI, germany had to pay war damages to France, and they about went broke, at one point, million-mark notes, and so forth. Then, along came this stove-up war veteran, with a Shining Vision For The Future...

a lotta people followed him, and his entourage of thugs took care of the opposition....finally they went 'over the top' and took over the whole country, then started working on the rest of the continent. I think that's a history re-enactment the world can do without...
Reply:What is scarier is that when trouble does start, the US will do the same thing and "pretend" they don't know about it. Not that the same thing will, as email and cell phones, along with other technologies, will make it impossible for something to happen along the lines of concentration camps and such, but on a smaller level - no one will care until it's too much of a problem. That's the world for you.
Reply:In the early 20th century, the Nazis were able to develop a stronghold in Germany in large part because they gave people "hope" in a country that had a terrible economy with little prospects at improving.

Considering the results of the election cited, and in light of 18 PERCENT unemployment, it would certainly seem like the cycle is ripe to begin again.

But I don't think we can blame these results on "young people" unless virtually ALL of the 7% who voted in favor, are in fact young people. The vote is more likely a result of economics than age.
Reply:Sounds like history beginning to repeat it self, smart move on the part of the skin heads to, begin wearing nice suits. No one ever took the dorky looking , combat boot wearing skin heads seriously. They are anti immigration, huh.....

Maybe we need a new political party in this country with that view.

Thye would have my vote.

She is a ghost that haunts the main character

in one scene, the lady(main character) wakes up in the night to feed her dog. something drips on her and she looks up. The ghost is floating in the tree, and the camera zooms into wrecked eye(a sharp accent is heard to frighten the audience)

What is this movie i have nightmares about? i saw it when i was young and i still get noghtmares. plz help?
It's called The Gift.

The girl is Katie Holmes. She's married to Tom Cruise. She's most famous for her role in "Dawson's Creek".
Reply:The name skips me just now. But the movie stars...

Katie Holmes

Greg Kinear

Kate Blanchet

Hilary swank

Keanu Reaves

Giavano Ribisi, (how do you spell his name?)

Kate Blanchet plays a fortune teller. Katie Holmes is a murdered woman that KB sees in a vision. One of the visions is of KH in a tree, one eye open, and wrapped in a chain. She is later found in a pond.

One of my favorite movies. I just wish I could remember the name.

My acting dream seems to be going no where. I'm still very young, but I've been at it for like six years.

I mean, ever since I was three, I dreamed of performing in front of a large crowd. That was something I wanted more than ANYTHING. But now, my dream seems to be going no where. I'm still performing in a small community theater (the kind where the audience members are simply friends/family to other cast members), and I wasn't even able to get the lead in my school play. I don't know what to do! Nothing I do to share my love of performing with to others seems to work. I mean, sure, it takes a while, but in six years, I would have expected to have AT LEAST gotten the lead in the school play (I actually got sick on audition day). Don't you? Because whenever I perform, I just feel so happy, and I feel that I do a great job. But it's like nothing I do seems to work for them, you know. It just feels awful. Especially because I have lost some good parts to some...not-so-good people. And I put 100% of myself into performing. Is there anyone out there with advice? Please, serious answers only.

My acting dream seems to be going no where. I'm still very young, but I've been at it for like six years.
It is hard when you are trying to persue your dream and you get smacked in the face. You are also persuing a career that is very difficult to get into. I would say just to keep at it. With enough hard work and dedication, you will get there.

And don't worry about not getting the lead in your school play, I hate to say it, but alot of those things are given to the "favorites". I would look into doing public theater, even if you start out small with a small part, they will see your hard work and dedication. You will do it!
Reply:I presume you're still in high school? Take a deep breath, there is much yet to do.

First, if you don't get the lead or the role you really want--it's hardly your fault. Directors often cast based on appearances rather than raw talent, and if I'm directing a show with a romance in it, I want the two lovers to look good together--which might mean the second-best woman and the best man in the audition will get those parts. The director is thinking of the overall look of the show, not just who is the finest performer.

You might consider working on basic skills. Take acting workshops in summer, get dance and voice lessons. Approach acting as a craft rather than an art, or as a discipline rather than an inherent gift.

If you need comforting beyond these generalities, look up the stories of some of the greatest actors. If I recall correctly, Bogie was the THIRD choice for lead man in Casablanca, Clark Gable was not the first choice for Rhett Butler, etc. All of the greats have had more rejection than acceptance.
Reply:Don't give up.

Put in a 120% rather than 100% and always believe in yourself.

NEVER give up your dreams... you'll live to regret it otherwise...

"I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles overcome while trying to succeed." - Booker T Washington.
Reply:Keep at it and try to improve. Ask the director in the play for helpful corrective critism..and be open to listening to it without getting tearful or sensitive. Maybe you are comming off differently than you mean to or are putting soo much effort in that you are over doing it...anyways they may be able to help you improve, but you have to be open to it!

Also, watch shows like idol and even top model. They are VERY helpful lessons in how to show your true self and chrisma.

I would personally keep at your dream and remember some of the most sucessful hollywood actors were DORKS and not even i the school play in highschool! I would also make a back-up plan for something you can do as a career that you would like and be good at...just in case...this way you'll always be able to make a living.
Reply:My singing dream seems to be going nowhere. I'm 46. It's hard, isn't it? But nothing that is worthwhile is easy to get. Unless you hit the lottery. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is this: when do I quit and try something else? Just realize when you quit, it will undo all of your past efforts and you will be starting all over again. By the way, I just submitted my demo (again) to try to enter a vocal competition. The winner will be signed to a national recording contract. I have less time than you, and I won't be giving up anytime soon. How about you? Do you have enough perseverance to keep going? I've experienced more rejection than I can mention here. But Mary J. Blige's music teacher told her she'd never sing professionally. Tom Cruise is so severely dyslexic that he can't read. You can't have any quit in you if you want to make it. Prove the "experts wrong. have the last laugh. Keep going until you do make it.
Reply:every actor and actress has had there bad times just be cool

dont do any thing stupid and you,ll hit the big time and all that can be put in the past .
Reply:(1) Dont give up.

(2) You are being taught a valuable lesson about REAL LIFE in the adult world right now - this is how it NORMALLY is - actually you have it easy right now

(3) Research acting schools and places with the emphasis on the arts for where to attend in the future

Failing that, if the place you are in is just plain dead for the arts, then MOVE. Find out where to be and go there instead.

OR fire yourself up for the ultimate challenge. Plan for the future when you yourself own and run your own theater and star in plays you produce. Learn from every role you get - even if its not the lead, if a role is done right, the role can steal the thunder from the lead. Become known for being able to become the character in the play - regardless of what or who or position.

If you truly enjoy theater, then live for theater itself. Dont get hung up by vanity. And learn from all of the people who support you during a play - the lighting crew, the stage hands, the dress designers, the choreographers - everyone has special things that you can learn.
Reply:Do you live in or near the Omaha area? If so, google rena's international. I am currently working with her, and i will be attending an international performing arts convention this summer. Tryouts for the next convention are on this saturday. If you do live near Omaha, and want more information, e-mail me. if not, check out the amtc website. just google millie lewis. They have a map, that can show you the nearest director that goes to the amtc convention. You can then audition for them, and go to the convention, which brings amazing opportunities in the acting career.

Why aren't the old skills of acting taught to young actors?

I had the benefit of dealing with a former broadway director, who taught us a great deal about theater and movement. He taught us how to use a cape, how to enter with the upstage foot, facing, how to direct audience attention to the action desired by the director and how to take it away. He taught us how to wear clothing well, and how to disappear on stage without leaving it. I've never seen anyone teaching these things. They filled pages and pages of notes. Why is this? Or is my experience too limited? Who does teach these things?

I don't need it. I became a teacher. I wonder, however.

Why aren't the old skills of acting taught to young actors?
MY guess is that with Hollywood actors, it's not about talent but about their "LOOK". Same thing in the music industry, you could be the most talented singer ever, but if you are overweight, or kinda ugly, you will get no where.
Reply:the Industry has changed so much,Years ago films/Plays was controlled the actors and actress had to follow strict guidelines were as today, Acting is more free and of course still comtrolled but less guidelines.I feel the basic would be alway taught but of course modernized! You have to look, how the world has changed. What is the main reason to shoot film or create play SALES!!!! New Technology (equipment) help change it especially no longer do actor have to speak a certain way when shoot a film in the boom over them and in plays the little mic that sits in the middle of there foreheads, Some techniques is not longer needed, In addition other ways to sell product, Movies, DVD'S, Downloads, better advertising, (pay) To watch on cable, etc. Everyone is riding a new wave of the Arts.
Reply:Just my guess, but probably because those who have the skills to teach, for the most part believe that todays breed of actors have no interest in learning.

There is a lot that modern actors could learn from the old days, and the old ways... and I say that as someone who prefers old films (20s-30s) over new.

What are some great plays you have seen in college/young adult theatre?

I go to The University of Florida and I'm a member of a theatre company, Florida Players. Next year I would like to propose/direct a production, but I would love some input as to what plays you may have seen/heard about in the college setting? Some previous productions include "The Exonerated", "Proof", "The House of Yes", "Urinetown", "Godspell", "The Shape of Things", "Bent" and "Too Much Light (Makes the Baby Go Blind)" to give you an idea. Profanity/Adult Content/Violence are acceptable so long as they aren't too frequent or explicit (the target audience is ages 18+). Thank you very much!!! www.FloridaPlayers.org

What are some great plays you have seen in college/young adult theatre?
"Buried Child", "All in the Timing", "Catfish Moon", "Metamorphosis," "The Woolgatherer," "Sylvia," a series of one acts by Christopher Durang would be great.

Good Luck

Is there a viable market for older teen and young adult animation?

I've been pitching a film (www.strangeframe.com) for the past few years, but industry executives say there is no market for animation in the 15-25 year old crowd (our target audience). What do you think? Why?

Is there a viable market for older teen and young adult animation?
Go to any Best Buy and see how much shelf space they devote to anime - mostly marketed toward older people. There is definitely a market.
Reply:By "no market" I think they mean "not a high enough return on our investment." There's certainly a market, if you consider things like Spike %26amp; Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Festival in the real world or Red vs. Blue on the internet, and all the anime fans in that age group (it's not like parents were taking their eight-year-olds to see Princess Mononoke --or were they?)

Convince them with numbers. Show them sales figures for animations in your target age group (think both anime and Hollywood produced stuff like The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury [2002], The Animatrix [2003], and Aeon Flux [1995]). Of course *I* think there's a market, *I* buy tons of the stuff, but you need proof to convince studio people. Remember to show DVD sales as well --how old are Ghost in the Shell and Akira but people are still buying them?

You're not going to get the same budget as Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, but there's a market.

How can I get published at such a young age?

I am only 14 years old right now, and am in the middle of writing a book. I have written through a few other books (none I have wanted to really publish) but this time around, I'm highly interested in-once finished; getting my book published. It's a fiction fantasy type book with a target audience of teenagers. I plan/hope to turn it into a full blown series of books. I have been writing most of my life and have always dreamed of publishing a book(s). I also, live in a very small town which doesn't have the resources of a city. So, how can I achieve my dream and where can I find some places that will help me publish my book and take me seriously for a low cost? Any advice for getting into this publishing? All advice/help is very welcome and appreciated.

How can I get published at such a young age?
Have been writing most of your life? When are so young yourself!

Sorry to say, but publishers are very reluctant to accept works by such young authors. And by what we read they are reluctant to accept any work what so ever.

Perhaps you should get your writing checked by some expert, I am sure they will be something to corect and ammend. employ an editor to look into it....

Best of Luck!

TW K
Reply:Wow, I was in that same boat (and still am) in elementary! Haha, I know...how lame...

But anyway, my advice is that you can either email/somehow contact a favorite author of yours to give you advice. They're already in the biz, its worth a shot to ask them questions. When I was sort of pursuing publishing at a young age, I also asked my English teachers for help since they might know some good resources.

Other than that, search in google. I brought up a bunch of websites once that said they'd publish your work online or something...I don't remember.

Anyway, good luck and I hope I helped!
Reply:You need to finish the book first. You're in the middle, and I'm guessing that means you're writing the first draft. You live in a small town, but does it have a good library, or is there a good library nearby? Look up some books on revision and editing and get your book done before anything else. (The writing books will be around the 808... area in the non-fiction section, and the newest "Writer's Market" will probably be in reference).

For now, study all the books you can find. Since you're still in school, see if you can contribute to the literary magazine (or start one). Look for writing scholarship contests.
Reply:You should share it piecemeal at an online writers group and see what edits and responses you get first. Getting involved with such a group will also put you in the box with others who can more readily answer this question. Check out the links below:
Reply:try osting ur stories online n getting feedback from readers.
Reply:Finish first.

If you go to my profile, you will find I have starred many good Q and A on publishing and writing for you to use. Print them out and study them.

Just started a web site for young families, how do I attract a crowd?

I have recently published an online forum for moms, www.lisajacobsathome.com, and I'm looking for feedback on this first draft and suggestions on where to advertise. I've submitted the web address to the major search engines, but I'd like to have an audience who have reason to return.

Just started a web site for young families, how do I attract a crowd?
Posting a link on different websites is the best way to advertise. I found out about a great mommies forum on myspace. They recruited me, so you could try something like that. Search myspace, facebook and such for mom's and then send them an email inviting them to check out your website.

Even the parenting board here would be a good idea. Also babycenter.com. They have forums you can post the link. First time mom's is defintely a good one, as first time mom's are always seeking information.

I looked at your website and I think its very nice and has tons of info. After you recruit a few people and they begin to join, your site will grow from word of mouth.

Best of luck to you.
Reply:i'd say contact another website that has advertisements on them and see if you can get your link on their site i'm sure some will do it for free but some may need a small payment to use their site
Reply:Gee. What a plug. I wont be going there now. That was sneaky.
Reply:I liked it. It's hard to find a parenting website that is catered to people like me, it seems everything out there is for that cheesy "mommy" stereo-type, especially when it comes to stay at home moms. I think you need a way to let people know when new information is available, like an email advertisement or something like that. I'll go back.

HOW DAMAGING IS Feminism To A Young MALE's Full POTENTIAL?

Gentlemen, some of you may remember the below clip as actually being from the movie Rocky IV. And you would be right. A few fans made the following clip of a part I used to watch dozens of times as a kid. Notice the unbridled power. Females usually have no place in a man versus man fight except in the audience and I've always felt that including women in action roles means the men have to hold their punches back. At certain times a woman would also be unsuited for a particular scene, such as at time index 2:54 to 2:57 showing the impassive doctor.

Gents, your thoughts?

All of the above. If you are to be a well rounded person you need each one of those things. Sadly parents today are not taking the time to raise their kids. There have been studies showing that kids today are ruder than any other generation, they are more overweight than any other generation, and they are lazier and in more of a hurry than any other generation. It is a sad future I am afraid.

Chief Seattle, as all great leaders of the time, had to convey to the adversaries that he couldn't control his young warriors because they were not only filled with pride and anger, they wanted to prove their warriorhood against the tribe's enemies.

This way, they could each make an honorable name for themselves as a true warrior, reaching status, and then be able to offer suitable dowry for a bride.

What should a young, aspiring actor do to be able to make a career out of acting?

I'm fourteen and I want to be a stage actress. It's always been my dream and I don't care if I end up living in a box and acting in a raggedy theatre for a two person audience, I WANT to act. But here's the problem: I have very little actual experience. Should I take theatre classes next year at school? What should I do about singing? I can't afford vocal lessons or dance lessons. I have no idea what to do. I don't really know how to go about auditioning for a school play and I'm scared that maybe I won't be able to do it. How will I major in musical theatre when I'm in college if I don't take singing lessons? Please help!

What should a young, aspiring actor do to be able to make a career out of acting?
Don't ever be scared!!

auditioning isn't so bad!

word of advice though... if you're that scared of auditioning..

you'll LOATHE being on stage in front of many many different people, watching you dance sing and act.

yes!! theatre class ALWAYS helps!!

join the church choir!!

that'll at least get you somewhere and it's usually free!

go to camps!

go to classes!!

go to workshops!!!!

go to community theatres!!!!!

good luck to you

:0
Reply:Enroll yourself to an acting school, follow the instructions zealously and practise hardest.
Reply:Well, since you already know what your living quarters will be (actually probably a sofa in a dark, cold, side street theater, not a box), yeah definately take drama in school. If your school has choir, take choir.

See if any Junior or Community colleges by you offer theater. They probably also offer dance and singing. Dance is usually required before you take acting.

You also don't say where you're at.

A JC is going to cost about $1,000 a year, but it's the cheapest thing around.
Reply:You take acting classes. if there are singing classes at school, take that as well
Reply:Honey, you got a lot of work to do! Sign up for every acting/singing class you can and attend workshops and camps and such. If it's really what you love to do, I hope you paint your cardboard box in an attempt to make it pretty.. you'll probably be living next to my ex's box as well... good luck with all that--- and perhaps consider another career choice as well, so that you at least can afford insurance on your box.
Reply:Take acting and singing classes(at school, if money is a problem). You're 14, so prepare to go after your dreams now. If you're nervous/scared taking classes and participating in theater will soon rid you of that fear...Break a leg!
Reply:First figure out how much you can sing or dance and act then if like the whole acting and singing thing if you really like then try out for you school play that will be a test if you really commited to it then look for an agent then have your agent look for jobs sothen your carear might take off
Reply:omg me 2 its allways been my drream at the ymca they have dance classes one person his name is jesus he went to my dance class and he made it on so u think u can dance all u have 2 do is practice alot!!!!!!!!
Reply:cry on the spot
Reply:Sing in the halls at school and make up some dance moves to do during half time at the games, you will definately get noticed.

Girls, how young when you started to healthily flirt and fool around?

Okay, Yahoo audience, please, I seriously need some help on this one. I am an adult male. I tutor high school and college students. I went to a family's house yesterday to tutor their high-school sons. They have a cute sister. She is under-aged, but she was unmistakably flirting with me all over the place.

Okay, so here's my problem. I am definitely intrigued by this girl and flattered by her attention. I'd like to flirt and maybe fool around. But I don't want to hurt her!

When we think of an adult male and a minor girl, our first reaction is "Ew, gross. child molester!" BUT ... get real. Seriously, this kind of flirting must happen all the time. But I guess it's never quite happened to me before, and that's why I'm confused.

So! Let me ask you. Girls ... when did you start to flirt with an adult male? When did you start to fool around a little bit? Was it healthy for you? Any advice?

I will wait for your responses.

Girls, how young when you started to healthily flirt and fool around?
this is normal, at certain stage in their lives girls begin to become more aware of their feminine charms and sexuality and they're dying to ''test'' them. it doesn't mean they necessarily want anything from a guy, i'd say they're just trying to experiment with the reactions they provoke in guys and prove their attractiveness to themselves. i did that when i was fifteen or sixteen, it helped me learn a lot of things and it was very fun!
Reply:Flirting and actually acting on it are 2 complete different things, she is learning to use flirting as a skill to get male attention.. it doesn't mean she expects you to act on it. If she is a minor don't even think about it.. you say your a tutor.. then you should know your limits dont see how you can be confused about your boundaires. Its ok to be flattered but if you are really thinking on acting on it then you should not be around kids, you should get help!
Reply:not yet... and im 15 almost 16. although im not really "normal"cuz i havent been in co ed school until two years ago so i have no clue how to act around guys haha how sad is that..erm anyways...

it kinda depends how young that girl is...%26amp;%26amp; also maybe you should think about what the parents might think if they find out youre flirting with their lil girl..like i know you arent a molester or anything but theyd prolly be protective of their kid and think you started flirting with the girl first or sth even though you didnt/.and that could cause problems

best of luck~~
Reply:Be VERY CAREFUL...Thats all I really have to say!

How many young women does Cena make out with everywhere he goes?

If the bible is based on the truth?

then why is it updated and made to appeal to the younger audience? I am not sure how the truth can be updated, anyone out there know?

If the bible is based on the truth?
The truth:

walking on water with holes i your feet?

raising the dead?

turning water to wine at a wedding?

being crucifed to death for 3 days and coming back to life?

going up to heaven?

being everywhere at once?

Allowing all the hatred in this world - a loving god?

I could go on all night, what do you think?
Reply:It is re-translated (usually from the oldest available documents) or "updated" so that it is able to be understood by people living today.

Very few people are willing to take the time to learn the ancient forms of Aramaic, Latin and Greek etc to be able to read the Bible. If it was only translated once per language, it would become harder to understand as time passed, since languages and even the meanings of words change over time. Some translations emphasis literal translation, others paraphrase the more archaic phrases into modern equivalents.
Reply:Ok over time language has changed and that is a fact. So since the bible was written thousands of years ago and translated to our language, people dont talk the same as they did then so they change it to more understandable words or phrases that people use now so people can make a better connection to what they are reading
Reply:It is the language for understanding the word is the word the truth is the truth understanding and knowing is the difference!
Reply:Truth doesn't change.
Reply:Apparently it's not updated, but made simpler.

Means the same thing to me.

"Danny" from american idol..video???

You know there has been this 'controversy' over this newly leaked tape..of "Danny" the american idol contestant... and TMZ got a hold of it.

http://www.tmz.com/2008/03/04/american-i...

They refer to is as "shocking"...

am I the only one who thinks this video is NOT a big deal AT ALL.

Yeah..a teenager said F*** and S*** in a 30 second long tape...WHOOPTY DOO.

I've said WAY worse, and much more often..they make it sound like he shouldnt be on the show..but personally, I dont think he did anything wrong at all.

i understand that they want the contestants to be a good example for their younger audience..but im pretty sure every time a teenager records a video for their myspace page they think "this may leak if i even audition for american idol" so I dont think they can be faulted...

What are your thoughts?

"Danny" from american idol..video???
don't make tapes like that if you want to be taken seriously as a professional

Politics joining forces with Myspace??

I read on cnn.com that Presidential Candidates are now singing up with Myspace to market themselves towards a younger audience. Do you really think this is a wise decision?

Politics joining forces with Myspace??
Yes it's a good thing. Film companies, famous bands, singing stars and actors etc have their own sites there. Just think how many celebrities from physicist Stephen Hawking, Bono and Hillary Clinton etc. have come to Answers to pose important questions here. Essentially to reach the large diverse audiences you have to go where they are. Technology is constantly evolving and so are the ways of communicating.

Here are some of the less “kidsy” games off of Wikipedia's list of Wii games:

• Brothers In Arms: D-Day (TBA)

• Call of Duty 3

• The Godfather: The Game (March 2007)

• Manhunt 2 (Summer 2007)

• Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (2007)

• Need for Speed: Carbon

• Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones (March 20, 2007)

• Scarface: The World is Yours (Q2 2007)

• Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Reply:Well, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, and Metroid Prime III: Corruption are coming out later this year. For now, you should give Zelda a try... It's a great game.

Also, some of those games that seem to be aimed at younger audiences are actually fun. Elebits may be bright, colorful and cute, but the entire game is about throwing household objects (and, later, things like cars and houses) around with a gravity gun.

Who are some musical artists that sealed their fate early on?

Often, an artist will release a song that is comedic, or that appeals to a certain (usually younger) audience, and they gain their fifteen minutes of fame.

Later on, however, that same artist will attempt to record something more mature or left of center, only to find their public image is carved in stone, and that the general public cannot and will not take them seriously. Any examples?

Who are some musical artists that sealed their fate early on?
Vanilla Ice

Snow

Sugar Ray

Smash Mouth
Reply:Snow. When he came out with 12 inches of snow it was definitely classified as bubble gum pop.. His carreer has never been the same since...

Milli Vanilli- When their debut album came out it was for one genre.. One has committed suicide, the other once again was never the same music wise...

Debbie Gibson- Electric Youth. 80s album, 80s fame, never the same afterwards...

Pretty much a lot of the one hit wonders from the 80s and 90s never reached the fame that their first hit did..... But one last artist I can think of that will suit this question to a tee is Billy Ray Cyrus...

Acky Breaky Heart.. Sent him to superstardom.. Then he faded away in the music industry.......
Reply:Elton John.
Reply:Hanson. Dexy's Midnight Runners (Although I do love "Come on Eileen"...). All of those boy bands...
Reply:Presidents of the United States of America
Reply:Todd Snider.... he of the Dylan-esque tongue-in-cheek "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues".

He was immediately shoved into a "parody" category, and up until he released another comedic song entitled "Beer Run" several years later, his career stalled... unfortunate because he is a wonderfully talented song writer and musician.

The same case could be made for 90% of the metal bands of the 80s. Bands like Poison, Warrant, Dokken, and similar artists will always be associated with eye-liner, spandex, and Aqua-Net in the pink can, no matter how serious the music they make these days might be. (Case in point, Poison's Native Tongue album and Warrant's Dog Eat Dog album).

What do you think about the work of the Guerilla Girls?

Your thoughts on the Nintendo wii?

im 21 and i want to know is it as good as i heard or is it more suited for a younger audience , ive waited this long til more games came out for it , so would u recommend buying it

Your thoughts on the Nintendo wii?
My 16 year old stepdaughter has one and loves it. My 31 year old son also has one and loves it. It's fun because you do something other than sit on the couch while playing it.
Reply:I actually think it's more geared to the college aged and 20-somethings. Great alternative to going out to the bars with friends. The mini party games have been my favorite drinking game since I got the system.
Reply:I wish I could just find one!!! A lot of nintendo's games are suitable for all ages. Just meaning that a child could play through the game but they put extra things in it to make the games longer and more challenging for adults. Then there are games like Zelda and Metroid that would be more challenging.
Reply:id say its more suited for older gamers and i also personally feel its the best thing to ever happen to video games

thanks

Reply:Yes!! its fun for all ages. To start you could get Twilight Princess.

its a Perfect Game to learn the Controls.

Reply:Outselling the PS3 6 to 1 and more reliable than an Xbox 360.

Would be my (current) choice in the new generation of consoles.
Reply:I have the Wii, and let me say that at first it is really hard to get used to. I play games like Madden and I am so used to pressing buttons, but now they changed into motion controls. Well that makes it overall, a lot more difficult to play. Certain games are really good though. Twilight princess is really good for the Wii. I also like Excite Truck. There are so many games that are good, but then there are some that need work (Madden). Overall it is a great system.
Reply:I have one and it is absolutely fantastic. I'd say it is suited to all age groups, which is why it's so succesful. If you want a really fun console then get the wii, but if you care more about graphics and internal capabilities then get the Xbox 360 or ps3. I'd recommend the wii though, as I, and others, thoroughlly enjoy it.
Reply:Nintendo's motto for the Wii is everyone can play. It is suitable for all ages. You can even connect to the internet and it has it's own web browser. The games out now cover all ages and there is something for everyone. Wii sports comes with the unit and this will keep you and your friends playing for hours. It's heaps of fun. Go and treat yourself.

Cheers :)
Reply:well i have a wii and i love it how it literally puts u into every game.

Poll: Music; A particular song, where does it take you, what does it mean?

No offense to the younger audience, over 30, I think you understand - maybe the first time you hear a song from high school and think--damn, that was 10+ years ago. Hope this is not too long, looking for honest opinions...

Poll: Music; A particular song, where does it take you, what does it mean?
This is 10 years ago...the first time I purchased a Dave Matthews Band cd. The album was Before These Crowded Streets. The first song to come out of the speakers was the intro Pantala Naga Pampa. From that moment on, DMB is what I turn to in order to make everything better.

The lyrics to Pantala Naga Pampa are simple. The notes are soothing. "Come and relax now. Put your troubles down. No need to bear the weight of your worries here, let them all fall away."

Ever since then, that little 40 second intro takes me to a place of serenity.

I'm not over 30....hope I had the mental capacity to understand your question and answer it maturely enough.

I'm from the U.S. and I was wondering, how popular is the show Degrassi there?

I used to watch the original show in theh 80's and early 90's and I loved it. I was so excited to learn that they had a "Degrassi:Next Generation". I think it's even better than the original show. They show it on one of our cable networks here called "The N" and I watch it all the time. I think it is so much better than most shows here geared towards the younger audience. I'm 34 though and it is still my favorite show!

Styx or REO Speedwagon?

Sure they're old school but who do you like better? For the younger audience, STYX was the band that Adam Sandler felt got no respect in Big Daddy. Can topicality be taken too far?

We are to do 'Importance' soon and our director has a few ideas to attract a younger audience. Will this drag you into our theatre?

Lady Bracknell. "Where did the charitable gentleman who had a first-class ricket for this seaside resort find you?"

Jack (Gravely) "In a back-pack"

Ladt Bracknell. "A back-pack?"

Can topicality be taken too far?
You crack me up - and I'm very suspicious of people who crack me up. But never mind.

Yes, of course I'd come and see it. Maybe could also re-name Miss Prism "Miss Bling" - then I'd definitely come and see it.

But of course, as an English scholar I would have to agree with Stephen K.
Reply:Trying to change the brilliant language of Oscar Wilde will no attract a younger audience it will only serve to detract from the wit of his language. Wilde was very precise in th use of language and timing, to try and change that is only going to take one of the most brilliantly worded plays of all time and reducing it to a silly comedy.
Reply:Actually, I think that's very funny. But probably only in my head and it wouldn't work on stage.

If your director really is wanting to get younger audiences along then a handbag is the least of his worries - get him to do Disco Pigs instead.
Reply:no really you can use it which every way you like it
Reply:If your director is seriously thinking of doing things like that to the script, then tell him he's an idiot. What does he think, that people won't understand the word "handbag"?

Whatever next? Hamlet asking, "Is it nobler in the mind to suffer the grenades and rockets of outrageous fortune, or by opposing, end them?"?

Please. If he wants to put on a modern play, let him find a modern script. Don't rewrite the classics—they don't need it. That's what makes them classic.
Reply:What exactly do you mean by younger audience? Little kids? Teenagers?
Reply:I won't be coming along to watch.

Why do director's have to modernize things?

Surely a good play will stand the test of time

Did any christians complaing about The Golden Compass go and see Beowulf this weekend?

I saw it. It was pretty good. Kind of had to get use to that computer generated look. But man was that movie incredibly violent. The blood was actually dripping at you in 3D, lol.

There was also some anti religious statements and the whole crossover issue to christianity.

So I was wondering how anyone can make a big deal over a movie like the Golden Compass if they go and see a movie like Beowulf.

(there was just a commercial on for beowulf)

The Golden Compass author might have been antireligious, but dont you think this movie will be just a fun fantasy movie aimed at a younger audience, compared to a movie like Beowulf where limbs are being ripped apart every other second and paganism is celebrated and religion kind of mocked?

Or are people that wont see a movie like Harry Potter and the Goldan Compass pretty consistent, so they probably wouldnt see Beowulf, either.

What would make you not go see a movie based on principle?

Did any christians complaing about The Golden Compass go and see Beowulf this weekend?
I have never seen any Christian complaining about the Golden Compass, I have no ideas what it is about, but one of my favorite actors is in it - Liam Neilson or however you spell it.

I'd like to see Beowulf because I like those kind of war movies, but I'm not much into the dragon stuff or Angelina Jolie but oh wells. Blood in 3D sounds good.

And Harry Potter, I don't dislike Harry Potter because of the witchcraft or whatever, I dislike it because I think it was written horribly. I got lost in the first book when a cat was really a professor sitting on a mailbox and turned into an owl and then talked to some biker guy who was teleported there. Its was just stupid.

Did my religious beliefs stop me from watching "The Terminator" a few weeks ago? People who worry about this need a better grip on reality.
Reply:I am a very conservative Christian, and I like Harry Potter (their fun), My wife and I will go and see Golden Compass, and I am sure we will enjoy it.

We are steadfast in our faith so we need not worry about movies, stories, fiction, or even those of other faiths.

I'm curious, has anyone taken the time to read the ANSWERS Rules of Conduct?

Seems like people are getting worse...I hope they all realize that this does include a younger audience.

Yup. But apparently not many do.

Should I buy a PSP?

I'm looking to finally upgrade my portable gaming experience (I've had the damn GBA Advance for quite awhile now). I'm looking to buy a PSP, but I've noticed that there are ALOT of PSP's on the shelf, in say, Wal-Mart, and stores alike. I like the multimedia features that the PSP has to offer, as well as wi-fi internet browsing. From what I've seen and read, the graphics are to my liking. I'm looking at games like SOCOM and Metal Gear portable ops. Now, I'm in a bit of a pickle, between PSP, and the DS. I like the New Super Mario game, and some of the other games seem cool, but to me, the DS is for a younger audience. My question is, PSP, or DS? This coming from a semi-hardcore 21 year old gamer on the go.

Should I buy a PSP?
A Psp can do awsome stuff ... You can read magazines , Much better games than the DS ,You can play gameboy advance , nintendo , ps1 etc games on the psp , There are cool apps like universal remote , IRC , Notepad for the PSP . You can play games for free on the psp as you can download them .

Hand's down the psp wins over DS just try getting a 1.5 firmware psp or atleast within 2.71 as only 1.5 psp can play games via the memory card . SO buy a PSP : )

Hollister size question (again)?

I live in Belgium and I frequently order clothes from A%26amp;F (very exclusive in Europe and really affordable too!). Now I want to order some clothes from Hollister, but I understand this brand (which I know is a daughter company of A%26amp;F) is designed for younger audience than A%26amp;F. I'am 22 years old, approximately 5.8 ft tall and quite athletic builded. I always have a M with A%26amp;F. Is this also the right size for me if I order from Hollister? (Because I also like to order a hoodie and I don't want to have too short sleeves :)) Thanks alot!

Hollister size question (again)?
Ya, im a medium at Abercrombie, and a medium at Hollister. Abercrombie clothes seem to run a little tighter then Hollisters, so if a medium at A%26amp;F is a lil big, then go with a small at Hollister. Also, dont forget that htey shrink in the wash. Better safe than sorry.
Reply:i dunno
Reply:it should fit b/c i wear a small 4 both of em.
Reply:ya you would be a M
Reply:well I think that hollister runs a little small so I would order a large if your a medium and if its too big you can always throw it in the dryer and shrinkkk it =] good luck!
Reply:i would say so. I have a small from both stores and they seem the same

Most gruesome video?

I'm looking for the absolute most gruesome videos, on the web or movie, either one. As for web videos, I watched 2 girls 1 cup, BME pain olympics, and this video going around Limewire of a captive being shot in the head, and it didn't bother me much. For movies, I watched Saw (first 3), and that's about it for gruesome movies I watched. None bothered me. Don't get me wrong, I know it hurts like heck, and although you feel I'm inhumane, if it's their choice or if it's unavoidable, there isn't much we can do. It's human anatomy, everyone has it, and it's obvious that the result of...I'll stop here for the younger audience. Email me for the links of either web videos I mentioned, they both worked for me. So, what is the most gruesome movie?

Most gruesome video?
Bambie meets Godzilla, its all over in less than a minute.
Reply:Hmmm maybe you should look into watching nothing but Disney movies for a year then after that pretty much anything you watch will be gruesome.

Barring that.

Check out Takashi Miike's films. They make Saw1,2,3. look like episodes of Suite Life with Zack and Cody. Except with less blonde kids and more serial killers
Reply:There's one of a guy being f%26amp;cked in the @ss by a horse. It's nasty.
Reply:"Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Begining"

"Cube: Zero" and "Cube"
Reply:Most gruesome? I have to say that Flower of Flesh and Blood and Devil's Experiment pretty much deserve their reputations.

You might also want to take a look at Georges Franju's 1949 short film, Blood of the Beasts, which is included on the Criterion edition of Eyes Without A Face. It is a beautifully shot, extremely graphic documentary about the slaughterhouses of Paris.
Reply:Watch Ichi the Killer, Ôdishon(aka Audition), and Oldboy.

I'm doing a project at school and i just wanted to know if anyone watched radio dramas if yes which ones?

and do you think there are any radio dramas aimed at a younger audience. If no do you think there should be?

I'm doing a project at school and i just wanted to know if anyone watched radio dramas if yes which ones?
lol I Don't think I have ever "seen" a radio drama
Reply:the shadow
Reply:Sam Spade was my favorite and the mysteries, when was around 8 or so. I was into Howdy Dowdy Time could not wait getting home from school and turn on the radio and listen to this show every day. We could not afford TV until '62. A lot of TV programs started from Radio. I beg your pardon on the 2 answers. I watched my radio while listening to it.
Reply:There can be an audience at the studio. Is this what you are asking about?
Reply:Considering you can't "watch" a radio drama...
Reply:No, I don't watch radio dramas. I don't watch them.

But I did listen to a series of cassette tapes about 10 years ago my grandmother had (I found them when we cleaned out her apartment when she died) that featured old radio shows like The Shadow.
Reply:I would watch the radio as I listened to it!!!

'The Lone Ranger'

And these days if there are any radio shows, I hope they do have something out there that's decent for a young audience.

Office Publisher 2007 - Cool things?

Hey,

I've been given a job to do: make a poster advertising an upcoming disco. I figured that the only program I have, and was able to do this on, was Microsoft Pulisher. Does anyone know of any cool features that I could possibly use in order to make the poser/leaflet more interesting, since it is targeted for a much more younger audience?

Thanks! Any help would be greatly appreciated =]

Office Publisher 2007 - Cool things?
Nope, publisher is crap, whatever you make on it looks lame.

Mark henry vs the undertaker casket match?

what if instead of undertaker having that predictable win last night, edge had interfered and him and mark henry had beat taker down. THEN, when they've done a good job on softening taker up, they roll him into the casket and close the lid.

i would say light the casket on fire like kane once did but seeing as wwe is aimed more towards the younger audience i think that would be going too far.

so dont you think that would have created EXTRA heat for their match at mania, instead of a predictable win on raw that had nothing to do with edge what so ever, whats your thoughts?

Mark henry vs the undertaker casket match?
I have to agree that it would have created more heat for their Wrestlemania match up..Although,i think that the WWE decided not to put it that way yesterday..cause it has happend many times..i mean..Taker's being inside a casket and set it on fire..or being buried alive..i guess they wanted to give the momentum for now to Taker..

I think Edge will find a way to go at Mania with high momentum..but my prediction there is that Taker walks out of the arena..undefeated...and 6 time Heavyweight Champion...
Reply:that is a good idea i was actually thinking that the edgeheads were gonna come in and distract the undertaker and when undertaker turned around.........BAM!! spear from edge that would have created alot of heat for there match at mania even lighting the casket up with undertaker inside would be cool but maybe a bit too much since most kids that are wwe fans are probably scared of fire

good question

(starred)
Reply:i figured that Edge would try to interfere but it would have been to no avail cause Kane and Batista was both there and they will have Takers back at Mania.......but as far as setting the casket on fire it has been done to many times.......and i knew that Taker was gonna win that match with the new submission....
Reply:I actually agree with you . . . though the fire thing would have been too much.
Reply:That's what i tough was gona happen during the match, and it would have been cool giving henru his first win over the Phenom.
Reply:edge wouldnt interfere because he knows the undertaker would chokeslam him or somthin!
Reply:that would have been the best and what a way for undertaker to win wrestlemania undertaker rulezzzzzzzz
Reply:yeah it was such a shock to see mark (jobber) henry lose that match worlds strongest jobber. the fire would have been replayed as much as the car blowing up so thank god they didn't do it
Reply:you think like me i was watching it and thinking that exact same thing that edge was gonna come from behind or pop up out of the casket
Reply:I think it would have been interesting to see the way you play out the match. Would have been more exciting than what was on Raw last night.

I thought the match itself was a little rushed.

Both Henry %26amp; Taker couldn't really develop anything.

It was a dull match(in my opinion).

Pirates of the Caribbean Online? Disney?

I've heard about this supposed, in-testing MMORPG being developed by Disney. Disney? MMORPG? Do you reckon that this game will be aimed at the younger audience of players?

Pirates of the Caribbean Online? Disney?
not exactly I have tried it. It is some decent work that disney has made here but just be careful I have been watching TV with my kids and shows like Nick are very perverted now. Please watch out. They talk about some sick stuff. I dont like that.

P.S. Best Answer Helps..:P lol please!

Anime is not just for kids?

I come under a lot of stick for watching anime. I know that some is for kids, such as DBZ is known as shoei animation which is aimed at a younger audience. However I like to watch Full metal alchemist, Ninja scroll, Dragonball Z as well but I just like to say it aint all for kids is it people?

Anime is not just for kids?
Yes, DBZ is aimed at kids/younger teens, FMA is aimed at mid-older teens. For non-Japanese audiences not truly familiar with anime, it's easy to think that these high-profile series represent anime as a whole. But there are anime that are aimed at 4-year-old kids, middle aged woman, men in their 20s, high school girls, and every age in between.

Saying "all anime are for kids" is like saying "all movies are for kids." It isn't true and makes no sense. Some is for kids, some isn't for kids. It's as simple as that.
Reply:of course loads of animes arent for kids thats why some are raited 15 and 18 in stores and whoever thinks it is doesnt know anime atall
Reply:There is another world out there when it comes to anime. Even the shows that are geared towards children, if you watch the unedited version from overseas there are a lot of elements not suited for children with American censorship. There are even anime porn movies.
Reply:if u really look at all the anime out there u will see that there are some which only adults would understand and some where only teens might get (like EVA ) i had to watch that a least two times every episode just to get an understanding plus some very gorey and sadisticlike HELLSING IT ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:nope anime is not just for kids, they separated into different age groups, some are rated for little kids, some are for teenagers such as bleach, one piece because they are slightly more complicated and more brutal, others are more adults because of brutality due to lots of blood scenes and more other reasons. So anime is not just for kids
Reply:it was relly for older people and it was for blood and limbs comeing of so yah
Reply:yeah americans go way overboard with censoreship making non anime fans base all anime on that. I love Yu-Gi-Oh! but 4kids totaly ruined it but the japanese anime is great (they have visible guns yay!)
Reply:Not all anime are for kids and only those who don't watch anime can say that.
Reply:No, in Japan, everyone watches anime. Even adults. It's pretty much aimed at any age group.
Reply:While many animes are aimed at younger audiences, there are quite a few I'd never let a small child see such as Akira or Princess Mononoke. However, without American censorship, even the ones kids watch today can be a bit much. Watch the uncut or Japanese versions of them and you'll see that there is a lot of stuff left out of them so that kids can watch them.
Reply:ya it is!!!

* Mahō shōnen is a male equivalent of Mahō Shōjo. Examples: D.N.Angel or Fullmetal Alchemist

* Moé features characters with perky, cute, weak, or naivè behaviors. In some way, they are not overly independent.[24] Examples: A Little Snow Fairy Sugar.

* Expertise specializes with a specific topic in depth. Topics range from sports, the arts, and cooking. Examples: Eyeshield 21 with football, or Yakitate! Japan with bread-making.

* Lolicon ("Lolita Complex") is the sexualization of under-aged female characters, the name coming from the titular character of Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. Example: Kodomo no Jikan

* Shotacon ("Shōtarō Complex") is the sexualization of under-aged male characters, the name coming from the lead child actor from Tetsujin-nijūhachi-gō. Example: Papa to Kiss in the Dark

* Harem is a genre which focuses on a male character surrounded by the romance of multiple female characters. Typically, the male cohabits with at least one female.[25] It is usually marketed as a Shōnen or Seinen.[26] Examples: Ranma ½ or Love Hina.

* Reverse Harem reverses the gender balance in harem, where a female character is romantically involved with many male characters. It is more often than not a Shōjo or Josei Anime. Examples: Ouran High School Host Club or Fruits Basket.

* Magical Girlfriend is more accurately termed Exotic Girlfriend. This genre focuses on the romantic relationship (and cohabitation) between a man and at least one woman of extraordinary origins such as alien (Tenchi Muyo!, Urusei Yatsura), supernatural (Oh My Goddess!), or technological (Chobits). Often considered a subgenre of Harem.

* Ecchi is Japanese for "indecent sexuality", derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the letter "H", (the origin of the term is not well known, even in Japan. See main article for more information.) Sexual humor and fan service are prevalent. Examples: Oruchuban Ebichu or He Is My Master.

* Hentai is Japanese for "abnormal" or "perverted". This term is synonymous to pornography or erotica, as hentai content specifically consists of such. Examples: La Blue Girl or Bible Black.

* Shōjo-ai or Yuri is Japanese for "girl-love". These focus on love and romance between female characters. It is often being replaced by the term "Girls Love" (GL). Yuri is like Shōjo-ai, but sometimes involves older characters or explicit sexual activity. Examples: Revolutionary Girl Utena or Kannazuki no Miko.

* Shōnen-ai is Japanese for 'boy-love'. These focus on love and romance between male characters. The term "Shōnen-ai" is being phased out in Japan due to its other meaning of pederasty, and is being replaced by the term "Boys Love" (BL). Examples: Loveless or Gravitation

* Yaoi is like "Shōnen-ai" but often involving older characters and explicit sexual activity. Examples: Sensitive Pornograph!

So no anime isn't just for little kids. There is more than one category to anime as I listed above. You would never see a small child watching Hentai and if they were then they have bad parents!
Reply:I'd say it's mostly geared for kids, but there is stuff for all ages. I don't think kids should be watching Akira and gorier ones like that.
Reply:Anyone who says that is most likely over the age of 30, can't draw a stick figure, and has no idea what the word anime even means. Anime is a major part of Japanese culture, and most of it is actually geared towards people in their late teens/early adult years...not little kids. Kids watch Goof Troop, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Batman Beyond, etc. Not Blood+, Texhnolyze, Robotech, RahXephon, etc. You see the difference.
Reply:No its not just for kids. It is actually aimed at teenagers and young adults. There may be some that are aimed at kids but most aren't. A ton of anime contains, gore, violence, nudity, and language...that is not for kids. And almost all anime has a very in depth story line that kids wouldn't understand.
Reply:I don't think all anime is just for kids. A lot of anime has a lot of adult humor in it so it in some cases are shown for adults. Although a lot of anime that is seen today a lot of people from all ages tend to watch it.
