Are we a society that glorifies violence?

Modern entertainment seems to be full of violent acts. The heroes in action movies are often shown blowing the bad guys to pieces while the audience cheers. Horror movies show young women being butchered by sadistic serial killers, and people go to see those movies in droves. Many video games encourage violent tendencies by rewarding the players with points for every kill. The military has even resorted to using these types of games to train soldiers. Professional sports is rife with macho posturing and agression that often leads to physical altercations and even riots. Much of today's music is full of violent lyrics glorifying violence between gang members, against the police, and against women. What has happened to our collective consciences as a society? It absolutely SICKENS me.

Are we a society that glorifies violence?
It appears that we don't have a collective consciousness or conscience. If we did, or if we do, and were all tuned into it ... all would be absolutely sickened as you and I are. We are obviously in the vast, un-silent, minority of time. Violence and crude ways are the tools of the ignorant masses and through-out history they have prevailed. The times that we are living in are no worse...it is just so sad that they are not better.
Reply:Ask California, I mean look who's their gov !............:)...Mr. Violence himself!
Reply:you cant blame the movies
Reply:humankind has lost all sanity it may have previously had. It needs someone like... JACK BAUER!!!!!
Reply:Yes; our society seems to glorify violence, gratuitous sex, and disrespect for authority, particularly that of God. Some people on here and on post boards don't even write the word full out anymore, as if it were an obscenity or something; they write "G-d".

Please run for President.

You've got my vote!
Reply:Considering that most people hold up Rome as the end all be all of civilization, and they fed people to Lions tells me that as long as we like our violence on screen as opposed to in coliseums we are OK.
Reply:I'm so sick and tired of movies and entertainment for being blamed for how violent our society has become. The Japanese who went berserk in Asia during ww2 didn't get the ideas from watching to much cable. The Nazis didn't get their ideas from violent video games. The Manson family grew up in the 50s watching wholesome Disney type TV and look at what they did. Some people are just hard wired to act more aggressively. And what about the Greeks and the Romans throughout history. If you don't like it don't watch it/buy it. This is a free country.
Reply:hey, kat s, arnold is an awesome govorner! i bet you wish he was yours:)
Reply:Yes we are. It is generally human nature, if something is violent it peaks a person to see it. It is in our history, violence is everywhere. It may sicken you, but one person cannot change a worldy point of view... oh yeah our version of violence is light as opposed to other countries, so if you try to go anywhere else your stuck with it.

If you question my views, Watch the news, that will answer it all for you, count over a week how many times they show good news over violence in news.
