Does this put anyone off wwe if they are catering for the younger audience?

basically will wwe put you off if they provide more for kids that adults? it would with me personally, i loved the attitude era and did you notice there was no blood at wrestlemania this year, could this be the demise of wwe if they cater more for kids?

Does this put anyone off wwe if they are catering for the younger audience?
Money-wise, definitely not. Kids are a huge market. Wrestling-wise, yes, definitely. I'm so effing sick of the WWE restricting movesets and setting up bland storylines. It's so obvious that the McMahons are all about the money.

The WWE is half-promotion, half-corporation as far as I'm concerned. It was founded by a businessman and is currently run by a businessman, so its main philosophy is not really wrestling but entertaining and raking in ratings and money. It is so obvious that for the better half of its existence, money has been its primary concern.

The biggest evidence I can find as regards this argument is the fact that its landscape keeps changing with respect to the landscape of the general entertainment industry as well as the landscape of competent promotions, as in the case of the Monday Night Wars back in the late '90s and early 2000s.

The only reason that there was an Attitude Era in the former WWF was because rival promotions such as WCW and ECW were promoting such material. In other words, it was the trend in wrestling back then to have violent matches and storylines, and the WWF was simply riding on that trend. Had it a similar philosophy to the two other promotions (especially ECW, since extreme violence was part of its thrust), its landscape would not change so drastically. But it doesn't, and since it is once again the standard in the wrestling industry, it goes back to what it does best, which is generate cash.

Personally, I dislike the way the WWE is going, because wrestling is a twofold business: sports entertainment. The WWE really knows how to put on shows, but I feel it places WAY too much importance on the little things, e.g. interior design, merchandise, tours, celebrity guests and has lost its focus on the big picture, which is wrestling itself. Wrestling is an art form, and like all forms of art, it has to evolve. I honestly see nothing revolutionary or avant-garde with regards to the wrestling style of most of the WWE roster, so I say, thank God for promotions such as TNA as well as independent promotions.

So to FINALLY answer your question... YES. I am quite put off by how the WWE caters to the mainstream.
Reply:Well, the hardcore era basically came to a halt after Owens incident. After that, they made hardcore matches a bit less well, hardcore. Now the WWE is getting way more kids as fan that of adults. For example, when I went to Wrestlemania24, There were only few adults in my section,(probably parents). All I saw were kids running around holding signs up. I think the WWE is making way more money off of merchandise and promotions with kids in the picture. I definitely WWF was better. Wrestling basically died after the Survivor Series 2001 WWF vs. Alliance. Forming WWE, which i think is boring now.
Reply:Ill watch it no matter what, But thats because im a true fan.

Edge bled from the mouth in the main event.
Reply:I don't mind at all. I actually think it's a smart decision.
Reply:wwe is making their themes for both now. like the maria thing. the older people knew she was modeling naked and the younger kids just thought she was posing for a regular magazine. but wwe is coming up with more kid themed stuff. like wwe magazine kids or whatever. good quesiton. starred
Reply:No, it wont be the demise of the WWE. They have done this before. Its just hopefully to build a new audience, that will grow with the company.
Reply:ive watched it when i was a kid, now when i see it i wouldnt have my kids watch, they are bringing playboy into it now and sex. i dont even like my boyfriend watchen the divas. ther not like they used to be. but i do know what you mean, the attitude era, so funny. stone cold, is the best for that,. but im not liking the divas, i think they should keep that in playboy.
Reply:I hope that soon the wwe will get some new thing doest matter what like a new kind of match,or maybe if they invent some new moves it gets real boring seeing the same old moves over and over.
Reply:i asked a very similar question about this
