Tabloids are ruining childrens minds?

do you think that the modern culture of tabloid news (i.e celeb mags heat trash mags) and sometimes trashy newspapers are sending out wrong messages to young readers, are we living in a more shallow world when we did 20 years ago, do you think alot of todays news is aimed at a younger audience for the wrong reasons (like clothes weight bad skin, good skin flabby waist skinny rakes) do you think we live in a society of double standerds, some mags promote bulling (slagging of pimpled celebs or fat stars,)then trying to stop bulling in schools, (what a contadiction) i think we need real news, do you think trash mags are false rumours mostly designed to sell papers to earn trash for cash, in total do you think these tabloids are ruining kids minds with hateful stories about ugly celebs, or do you think im heather mills the 2nd, and i should get a life and stop ranting.

Tabloids are ruining childrens minds?
No. People who succumb to Media pressure do so due to their own insecurities.
Reply:All of what you said, only I think it has been going on a lot longer than 20years, think of all those glamorous Hollywood film stars glamorising smoking and drinking, as time has moved on so has the newspaper and magazine industry- capitalising on the youngsters, and making people feel bad about themselves if they are not a size 10 or should that be size 0
Reply:not just children, i see many grown ups affected by tabloids too. the key is to teach your kids to think for themselves and they will go far
Reply:It doesn't help but there is a market for it amongst adults and children. I even read the trashy stuff when I'm at the hairdressers and enjoy being kept up to date with the lives of Peter and Jordan and Brittney for half an hour every now and then.

Bullying and anorexia have been around for years - so these bitchy mags haven't caused it. Cyber bullying and internet perverts targeting children are much more worrying to me.
Reply:their ruining adult minds as well......you can only cope with permanent expose to shi t before you start smelling of it.....
Reply:Couldn't agree with you more. But you try emailing the magazines with a concern and do they answer. Do they dogs dangley bits.
Reply:I totally agree. I wanted to treat my 5 year old grand-daughter to a comic the other day, and I couldn't find ONE that didn't come with a free item of MAKE UP. For a 5 year old????

I don't think you're ranting at all, I have been saying the same thing for years. 8 year olds are more bothered in their weight, and make up, than playing like 8 year olds should be, and I am convinced these poison mags are to blame.

I work in a newsagents, and read these mags when it's quiet, and I cannot believe the crap our kid's are being subjected to. Whatever happened to childhood?
Reply:I certainly think that they obsess over celebrities weight, especially female celebs, and I don't think it's healthy for young people. Every time I open a paper they are slagging someone off for having dimply legs or just the tiniest bit of flesh on their bodies, and to young people reading this rubbish who are conscious of their bodies it can have a damaging effect. I think the media as a whole needs to step back and look at the effect they can have and start reporting responsibly.
