Why rap "music" sucks.?

There have been many boards on the battle against rap. And I 100% agree with all of them. Rappers and "gangsters" are nothing but stereotypical people who think beating their women, drugs, cursing, sex, and selling their music to a younger audience is cool. The way they even talk is disgraceful such as "Yo son my low rider is mad tight yo, we gon pick up some hoes and take um to da bar fool". The thing that upsets me the most is that rappers have absolutely no talent. All they do is sit there- try to make up some bull crap rhymes and then steal a beat from a former hit. How the hell is that talent?! I am a young teenager and I have given rap many chances but I don't get the concept of it. Look at rock bands such as KoRn, Alice in chains, Nirvana and Green Day. These people have actual talent. They pick up their instruments and sing their heart out because they have actual talent. They give the time to amuse and express their feelings to everyone who loves rock.

Hip hop is like this becuase they think saying curse words, women shaking their @ss at the camera, cars and money, it really does sell in music stores. If they didn't talk about neither of these, hip hop would just be a talentless music--it can't possibly be even called music. Rock shows off by playing the guitars, the vocals and drums well, meaning THIS is music. They actuaclly have talent picking up something. All these rap artist do is pickup guns and thnk it's cool to get someone shot. Eddie Van Halen really amazed me in rock and this is why i loved rock since the 80s. Areosmith, Nirvana, KISS (yep i really liked them), Bon Jovi (i got a tattoo of them), and so many other great bands. Rap/hip hop is dead. U wanna know why t's dead? Because of ur perfect reasons--degrading woman, throwing around cash, having guns, the cursing, etc. Thats why it's dead. Rock is #1. Rock rules the whole term of music. ^_^





Oh, and some ppl said that rock music is all about screaming. Well, it's sure is a whole lot better than getting shot or having women as entertainment.

Reply:Who in the world told you all that all rock singers yell because whoever told you that is a lie. So you telling me that Tina Turner screams when she sing or that The Fray screams when they sing. True that some rappers have talent but also do rock music. If you try to listen to it once in a while you will find out that it takes a lot of talent to sing rock music. I am not that all rock music is good because it is not but not all rap is good either.

And since when does KoRn count as "singing your heart out?" I could say the same thing about them...no talent and just screaming into the microphone. I have heard some of their lyrics and they are not the most meaningful that I have ever heard. You must not have listened to artists such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Common, all of which are hip hop artists and talk nothing about the previous topics that you mentioned. Everyone has their own preference of music, so if you like rock...stick to it...and stop b*tching about rap....no one is making you listen to it.

What you described as 'rap' is nothing more than the typical commercial crap that is being played on the radio. that, hun, is NOT real rap.





You said you tried to give rap chances, care to tell me which rappers you listened to, that you just didn't like? Because there are some amazing artists out there, and I'm willing to bet that you either never even heard of them, or you didn't try them out.





Plus, you cant possibly say all rock is good. I can give you hundreds of examples of bands that have absolutely no talent. (bands which you probably listen to)





Grow up a little, listen to different forms of music (you know, there are more genres than just rock and rap), learn some music history, and then get back to me.

listen to artists like lupe fiasco, k'naan, blue scholars. THEN you will see that not all hip-hop is about the same things.





judging the entire genre of hip-hop on artists like Hurricane Chris, 50 Cent and Shop Boyz is like judging the entire rock genre on Hinder, Simple Plan and Good Charlotte. If this was all you heard of rock in the mainstream, then you'd think that all rock was either about women and getting drunk/stoned, how terrible their life is or keeping your hands off their girls. And that's not fair, because there is so much more to it than that, just like there is more to hip-hop than women, drugs, guns and money.





Rappers do have talent. You try writing a meaningful 3-verse rap song, using complex lyrics, metaphors and rhyme schemes, while still conveying a message and staying on the beat, like rappers do. It's not easy.





Stop being so ignorant and broaden your tastes. Or at least appreciate it as a music genre instead of just dismissing it completely on the basis of what the radio plays.





Oh, and what about KoRn's 'All Day I Dream About Sex'? Very meaningful..
